Biography "G-Wade"

G-Wade, born Gary W. Coleman in Washington, D.C., where he and his older brother were raised by their single mother. "G," as he was known by, neighborhood was a melting pot of multi-faceted people with different backgrounds, lifestyles and beliefs. This was the start of the cultivating of a young Gary’s imagination. Growing up, he spent most of his time with friends in the neighborhood and at the local recreation center. His first experience in acting and in music started in elementary school, where he performed in several school plays, sang in the "Glee Club" and took piano lessons.

As a teenager, Gary was the drummer in a local "Go-Go Band, "Aggressive Funk." When Gary wasn’t playing with the band he spent his time writing rap songs and performing them on the corners for his friends. Although he enjoyed different styles of music, his interest in rap music gave him a since of release enabling him to express himself, his life as he knew it, through music. He spent time in studios laying tracks with hard driven urban beats laced with funky bass lines and cut throat lyrics, that became his signature. In 1993 a glorious change occurred, "G" accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. In 1995 he became a member of Jabbok Christ-Centered Ministries’, now Jabbok International Fellowship, under the Leadership of Bishop Donald A. Wright, Sr., located in Forestville, MD. After his membership, he soon joined the Music Ministry as one of the percussionist and was placed as director of the Drama Ministry, which he dubbed "Praise Em Production." With all the noticeable transitions in his life, Gary could no longer dispute the fact that God was calling him to submit his total self; his lifestyle, his talents, his gifts–namely his music. Being obedient, Gary heeded to the voice of God and switched from secular rap to gospel rap. Keeping with the same style that he was known for, the beats kept flowing but the message was different. Straight forward, unadulterated, true to the call, but not compromising, Gary sends shock waves in the spirit. Graced with the ability to put power behind this form of praise, his rough style took a slight detour. No longer throat cutting but heart piercing, drawing in generations of listeners that "bob their heads" and sway to the rhythmic gospel agreeing with Gary that they too were lost but now are found. That same year, Gary wrote, produced, directed, and starred in "Calling My Name," a gospel musical stage play. He also wrote, produced and directed "The Hit," another gospel stage production, which featured the title song, "The Hit." Along with his music, stage and film & television credits under his belt, Gary founded I-66 Entertainment, a gospel, production and record company, Eternal Wear Eternal, a Clothing Line, Flava 4 The Savior Magazine, geared towards the youth and urban fashion, and I Shine - U Shine Foundation, an outreach ministry, where he serves as CEO over the companies.

"I shine - U shine" is his motto. Gary believes in not leaving anyone who is with him behind and will support anyone who has the drive and ambition to succeed. He has been privileged to have been in the background, learning and gaining experience, which has helped him to reshape and to redefine what his true potentials are and he is more than willing to share what he has learned with others. An "A-Typical" gospel artist he is not, he realizes his call and has stepped out with boldness. With his constant desire to cause people to move forward and to believe in what they are doing, he presses on. He does realize, however, that the hardships of ministry can be humbling, but he accepts the humility with the graciousness of any "true" Christian. With God as his guide and faith as his assurance, it’s no wonder why his vision is so clear.
